In this class, students are required to clean out their garages, basements, and attics and find wood items that can be incorporated into furniture. Make an heirloom out of something destined for the landfill.
Imagine an old wood shutter as the back of a garden bench, or a louvered closet door or ladder as the back of a ladder back chair -- or an old water ski -- an old tennis racket. Cut a solid core wood door into shelving for a potting bench, and use the doorknob as a handy towel hook. Recycle a cabinet door as a table/end table/plant stand top. Picture 4 croquet mallets becoming the legs for a plant stand, or, just bring an old chair that needs a new seat, legs, or back. The possibilities are endless, once you find your 'treasured trash'! If it's wood, it'll work!
Below are some recent examples. . .but use these ONLY to get your imagination working!
Ski Chair Willowed Seat Overlay willow Seat/Back on recycled chair frame
